Making It Real

MAKING IT REAL

A framework for people to have more choice and control so they can live full and independent lives.

Wirral Evolutions has got the chance to be an early adopter for the new Making it Real framework. The aim of this framework is for people to have more choice and control so they can live full and independent lives. We are really keen to do this, but the timeframe is very short - we have to have had a go and done something, and written it up, by 17 September!

We are starting with one centre, and see if a simple process works. If it doesn't, we can refine it.

We aim to hold 2 focus groups on 31st August - the first in the morning, with people we support at Cambridge Road (a group of about 10 people) supported by self-advocates from Together All Are Able. Later that day we will meet with some families.  In those groups we will look at the “I” statements and vote on them using Red Amber and Green. We will then identify 3-5 priority statements.

We will do a separate session with staff using the new "we" statements, and identify the same number of priorities.

On 4th September we will bring together a small group of staff, people we support, Together All Are Able and families to look at what the three groups saw as priorities, and from there we will coproduce a draft plan of action for Cambridge Road.

If that process works, we will do the same in all the centres between now and Christmas, and then we will use all those priorities to create a simple action plan for Wirral Evolutions.
