Wirral Evolutions Board

The Wirral Evolutions board oversees the governance and running of the company. The Board is a key function of the Company and plays a vital role in ensuring governance.  The Board’s key purpose is ‘to ensure the Company’s prosperity by collectively directing the Company’s affairs, while meeting the appropriate interests of its shareholders and relevant stakeholders’

Currently the board consists of the following members:

Mike Naden    –    Independent Chair

Dave Fergus   –    Interim Managing Director

Carey Bamber –   Non Executive Director

Cllr Phil Davies -   Non Executive Director

Pam Williams    -   Non Executive Director

Jean Stephens -  Non Executive Director


Mike Naden –   Independent Chair

Mike Naden has a broad range of experience as a result of roles within Banking, Finance, Retail, Utilities and Engineering.  He is an accomplished and experienced business expert who has significant management experience at a senior level.  Mike is looking forward to his role and said ‘This is a great opportunity for everyone involved in the creation of this new business.  I am sure there will be plenty of challenges and hard work ahead as the business is established, but from past experience, making this a success will be very rewarding for all concerned,’

Carey Bamber –  Non Executive Director

 Carey has a strong regional reputation across Adult Social Care settings for her Chairing of regional policy and practice networks over the past 15 years.  These include third sector networks, family and disabled people’s organisations, health networks and personalisation leads.

Phil Davies - Non Executive Director

Cllr Phil Davies may be a familiar face to many as Labour Leader of Wirral Council. Phil was first elected as a Councillor in 1991 and represents Birkenhead and Tranmere ward. Phil took over as Leader of the Labour Group in May 2012.

 Cllr Davies is also a non-executive director of the Wirral Multicultural Organisation ad Mersey Maritime, and is a trustee of Wirral Food Bank. He represents Wirral as a Board Member of the Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership and is Chair of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.

Pam Williams  - Non Executive Director

Ms Williams brings over 20 years of experience operating at strategic Director and Board level to the post, most recently as Executive Director of Finance at Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council.

She has previously worked as Director of Corporate Services at Ellesmere Port & Neston Borough Council and Chief Finance Officer at Burnley Borough Council. She will also remain a non-Executive Director of Manchester Mental Health and Social Care NHS Trust until September.

Jean Stephens - Non Executive Director

Jean is currently the Chief Executive of Merseyside Sports Partnership (a position held for over sixteen years) and has worked in the sport and leisure industry for twenty five years. She is also a Trustee and secretary of Merseyside Sports Foundation and a Trustee of County Sports Partnership Network Board.

Jean is also a trustee at Greenbank College, an organisation that supports disabled people and other disadvantaged groups from Liverpool and the surrounding area to fulfill their potential. This is achieved through the provision of education, training, employment, sport and recreation services.
